IATA (International Air Transport Association)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: This course is intended for any staff working at UConn, in an area in which the individual will be responsible for the shipping and/or receiving of hazardous chemicals and/or dangerous goods. This training needs to be completed prior to assignment working in such areas.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course fulfills the requirements of receivers and shippers of hazardous materials in accordance with 49 CFR 172.704 (a) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations accordance with IATA 1.5.2 . Lab Safety and Chemical Waste Management (Initial)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: The course must be completed by faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, visiting researchers, undergraduate students and other individuals prior to working in UConn laboratories where hazardous chemicals are used or stored.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course reviews the contents of the OSHA Laboratory Standard, the details of the Chemical Hygiene Plan, the physical and health hazards of chemicals in the work area and appropriate work practices, standard operating procedures and emergency procedures used to protect employees from hazards in laboratories. Lab Safety and Chemical Waste Management Retraining (HuskyCT)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: INTENDED AUDIENCE: The course must be completed by faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, visiting researchers, undergraduate students and other individuals who have successfully completed the initial lab safety or lab safety retraining course requirement within the last year in order to continue working in UConn laboratories where hazardous chemicals are used or stored. Individuals that fail to maintain the mandatory training requirement every year must sit through the initial training again.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course is designed to keep employees up-to-date with changes to federal and state regulations and University policies and procedures. It details the OSHA Laboratory Standard, the Chemical Hygiene Plan, the physical and health hazards of chemicals and appropriate work practices, standard operating procedures and emergency procedures used to protect employees from hazards in laboratories.
