Re: Biological Agent Use Registrations

The Biological Agent Use Registration (BAUR) form was developed to gather information on the use of biological agents on campus. This information will be used to assess the biosafety needs of the various laboratory environments at the University. This letter will answer some of the frequently asked questions.

Biological Agents are defined as living organisms and their products. These agents include but are not limited to: biological toxins, allergens, viruses, subviral particles, recombinant products, parasites, animal (including Human) cells, tissues, organs, blood and body fluids, and microorganisms the animal specimens may contain.

Principal Investigators are University employees (permanent, temporary, post-doc) who direct the activities of a research laboratory and/or project within a research group. Principal Instructors are University employees who oversee the activities of teaching laboratories and/or individual undergraduate student projects. A Laboratory Supervisor is a University employee who works for a PI as a technician or assistant responsible for daily laboratory functions.

This version of the BAUR is a Microsoft Word form. Sections will grow until a maximum character limit is reached. Addtional pages will be created as you type. You may want to include additional pages to list organisms or personnel that did not fit in the tables provided.
